A Global First for AMMEGA: Cleaner Processes, Local Impact
Our Buford facility is setting a new global benchmark as the first AMMEGA Group synthetic facility in the world to exclusively produce water‑based polyurethane (PU) belts. While our global sites in the Netherlands and China already use water‑based adhesives for selected solutions, Buford is the first synthetic facility worldwide to transition 100% to water‑based adhesives.
By replacing volatile organic compound (VOC) solvents with water‑based systems, we significantly reduce atmospheric pollution and improve biodegradability. Using water instead of chemicals such as toluene or acetone ensures cleaner air, safer operations, and more environmentally responsible production, as aqueous adhesives are easier to treat in wastewater systems.
This achievement not only elevates performance and sustainability but also demonstrates Buford’s leadership in advancing AMMEGA’s global environmental commitment.
Our Built American Proud commitment goes beyond sustainability claims. By localizing production in Georgia, we offer a stable domestic solution with four-week lead times and a reduced carbon footprint thanks to shorter transportation distances and local manufacturing.
